Kaanta Laga sensation Shefali Jariwala passes away

Mumbai: Shefali Jariwala, known as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42 in Mumbai, India, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others, but was declared dead on arrival. Her body was sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem, with the official cause of death still pending confirmation. Jariwala rose to fame in 2002 with her bold appearance in the remix music video “Kaanta Laga,” which became a cultural phenomenon. She later appeared in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and the Kannada film Hudugaru (2011), and starred in web series such as Baby Come Naa (2018) and Booo Sabki Phategi. Her participation in reality shows like Nach Baliye (seasons 5 and 7) and Bigg Boss 13 (2019) further cemented her popularity, where her honesty and interactions, including with late actor Sidharth Shukla, were widely discussed. Shefali was married to Parag Tyagi since 2014, following a divorce from musician Harmeet Singh in 2009. Her last Instagram post, shared three days before her passing, featured her in a shimmering silver jumpsuit, captioned “Bling it on baby,” and has since been flooded with condolences from fans. Tributes have poured in, with actor Aly Goni expressing shock on X, stating, “Life is so unpredictable. Rest in peace.” Her sudden demise has left a void in the entertainment industry, with fans and colleagues remembering her vibrant legacy.
